Fr. John C. Allard

Ordained: 1975
Status: Accused

Died: 04/27/2018
Diocese: Diocese of Providence RI

Monsignor. Allard was removed 2/25/2013 from his positions at St. Agatha and Precious Blood parishes and the Father Marot CYO Center after an allegation that he sexually assaulted an altar boy over two years, beginning in 1981 when the boy was about age 15 and Allard was assigned to Immaculate Conception in Cranston. After the first assault Allard told the boy that what happened was a sin, then drove him to Providence for confession. The Diocese stated that Allard admitted to the abuse and expressed profound remorse for the harm he caused. There were no criminal charges due to the statute of limitations. Allard was ordered to live a life of prayer and penance. A year later he was working as a part-time cook at St. Agatha’s parish rectory. He died 4/27/2018. Included 7/1/2019 on the Diocese’s list of credibly accused. Included in the 3/4/2026 RI Attorney General’s Report.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
