Fr. Michael J. Barrett

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 8/21 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a boy 1974-78, beginning when the boy was age 12 and Barrett was a lay member of Opus Dei. Per the lawsuit, the boy was also abused by then-Fr. Theodore McCarrick. Barrett was ordained by Pope John Paul II in Rome in 1985. He worked in Rome and Madrid, then in Houston TX for 25 years, followed by Los Angeles CA 2013-16. In 2016 he was named pastor of St. Agnes in New York City.
