Ex-nun, left her order in 1979. Accused in a 2/8/96 suit of sexually abusing a boy, ages 12-17, beginning in 1987. The boy was a student at St. Frances de Chantal in the Bronx when the abuse began, and Baisi was his teacher. The school was staffed by the Sisters of Divine Compassion. In 1995, the complainant mentioned the abuse to a counselor, who reported it to authorities. Baisi was suspended from her role as principal of St. Frances in 1996 when the suit was filed. She admitted the abuse in taped conversations with the victim. Her attorney and the judge stated that she had effectively admitted to the charges.

He worked in Rome and Madrid, then in Houston TX for 25 years, followed by Los Angeles CA 2013-16. In 2016 he was named pastor of St. Agnes in New York City.

From Holland. In U.S. at Carmelite Priory in Mantzville PA 1954-56, then Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish in Middletown NY and area mission parishes 1956-57, and again 1962-85. Complaint to order of sex abuse of 7-year-old altar boy in 1973. Parents did not press charges when they learned their son would have to testify. Other families said Boxelaar molested their preadolescent sons, but wanted to keep it quiet. More complaints to order in the 1980s. Quietly sent back to Holland in 1985. Died in 1990. After news in 2002 of accusations against Boxelaar, at least 25 more men surfaced, saying they, too, were molested by the priest as little boys. The order acknowledged having received 1 complaint in the 1970s and 5 in the 1980s. Three lawsuits in 2019 claimed abuse of altar boys in 1970s and '80s. Suit in 7/20 by 8 men; all said Boxelaar told them the abuse was normal and "in keeping with Dutch customs."

The court filing on behalf of the victim's estate sought discovery from the Maryknoll order after the victim took his own life on 1/14/19. Flanagan had reportedly joined the Maryknolls in 1956 as a religious brother, was ordained in 1964, and worked at St John and St Mary church in Chappaqua NY in the 1960s, when he received psychological counseling but was allowed to continue working with children and families. His connection with the parish is documented as early as 1962, when Flanagan was a seminarian. He reportedly left the order in 1971, became a follower of Meher Baba, worked as a 'writer-actor and bioenergy healer,' and died on 9/25/16.

In 3/22 the charges were withdrawn on SOL. Arrested again in Philadelphia 5/4/22, charged with sexual abuse of a boy starting when the boy a 15-year-old altar server at St. Peter's in Poughkeepsie in 2006, and ending in 2010. Family filed suit against the NY archdiocese.

In 6/16 a 78-year-old woman stated publicly that Hyland sexually abused her when she was ages 11 to 14 . The woman, who went on to become an Ursuline sister, said Hyland stepped in to help the family after one of her sisters was struck by a car and died. She said he would take her and two other sisters to plays, the circus, and such. She also said she told the archdiocese of the abuse in the mid-1980s, and the two priests who interviewed her asked her what she did "to activate his interest" in her. Hyland died 5/20/95. The man received a settlement from the archdiocese's IRCP (Independent Reconciliation and Compensation Program) in 7/17. He filed suit in 2019, after a new law extended the SOL in NY. The man claimed he was tricked into giving up his rights to further claims in accepting the IRCP settlement. Kelly's name was included on the archdiocese's list 4/26/19. It noted he left ministry, and died in 2008.

Kennington was a close family friend who stepped in to help the mother after a divorce, including with childcare. They attended the Manhattan parish where he was assigned. The brother filed suit in 1993, settled in 2001. The sister could not sue, due to NY statute of limitations. Kennington was sent around 1995 to Order's monastery in Esopus, NY, assigned to archive Shroud of Turin research. He was honored in 2009 on the 50th anniversary of his ordination. Living in Brooklyn by 2010. Still active in 2016. Named in new lawsuit 2/19.

Kiarie was in New York on a speaking tour to raise money for Kenya churches. The boy told his mom Kiarie molested him; she told church officials, who told DA. In 8/02 Kiarie rejected a plea bargain that would have given him 90 days in jail, and demanded a trial. Jury found him not guilty in 4/03. Kiarie said he would return to Kenya immediately.

Per the suit, the man feared the priests secretly filmed them. He was a student at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart in Orchard park. Kowalczyk was pastor of the parish when placed on leave due to the allegations. The three priests denied "ever committing any acts of abuse." Kowalczyk, Dobson and Nycz were reinstated in 10/21 after the Diocese's review board determined that the allegations against them were unsubstantiated.

The men who filed suit alleged abuse at ages 11 and 12; one said Lombardy lured him under the ruse of teaching him chess. Lombardy left the priesthood in the late 1970s, married and had a son. HIs marriage ended in 1992 and Lombardy's wife took their son and moved to her native Netherlands. He died in 10/17. His obituary notes that he worked at some point under Theodore McCarrick, who went on to become a Cardinal and was later credibly accused and laicized.

Lynch was tried in 1989 on charges he fondled one former Mount St. Michael's student; Lynch's lawyer said it was the boy who made a pass at the priest. Lynch claimed he was subject of witch-hunt because of his AIDS ministry. Found not guilty. Moved to London in 1992; started ministry for closeted gay priests. Order expelled him in 11/11. Two news suits in 9/2021, one by a former Newark archdiocesan employee alleging unpermitted sexual contact in 1991, the other by a priest alleging sexual assault, which he reported, and repeated unpermitted sexual contact around 1991 at McCarrick's NJ beach house. Another 9/2021 suit claims abuse of a young man late teens-early 20s, in NJ the 1980s. A suit in 11/2021 claims abuse of an altar boy 1982-1986, started when the boy was age 10, and another by a man alleging abuse when he was a seminarian in 1986 by McCarrick. In 1/2023 McCarrick's legal team said he was not competent to stand trial.

Monsignor. Accused publicly in 1/19 by two sisters, who said McDonagh sexually abused them over 5 years beginning in 1972 when one was age 13 and the other age 7. The family were Our Lady of Refuge parishioners in the Bronx, where McDonagh was newly assigned. The abuse allegedly occurred in the girls' home when McDonagh would "bless" the girls in bed. McDonagh was later secretary to Cardinals Cooke and then O'Connor. The girls' mother reportedly told Rev. Benedict Groeschel of the abuse in the 1990s, to no avail. McDonagh died in 4/99. The Mother of the Monastery informed the Harrisburg diocese that she had found out that McLucas had sexually abused a 14-year-old girl and had a sexual "relationship" with her into her adulthood. The NY archdiocese received a report of the abuse in 2012. The Harrisburg diocese revoked McLucas's faculties. Two former students at Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx came forward in 4/12 to allege that they were abused in the mid-1980s by O'Connor, then Dean of Discipline. He left the school in 1987 and, as of 2012, left the Irish Christian Brothers "within the past few years." The order filed bankruptcy in 4/11, which opened the doors for the allegations to be made. O'Connor was also a teacher and principal at Power Memorial Academy in New York. Included on the order's list of former and deceased brothers with at least two claims of sexual abuse against them, as required by its bankruptcy settlement in 2014. A lawsuit filed in 9/19 claims O'Connor sexually abused a boy, age 15, in 1986. The boy was a Cardinal Hayes High student. O'Connor reportedly is the subject of "dozens" of allegations and lawsuits.

Suit filed in 1/20 under the NY Child Victims Act, claiming abuse of a boy, age 12, in 1989 at St. John's, and that he abused over 50 boys while at the parish, including "violent, sadistic rape." Fr. James Tamburrino

One of 4 priests accused of abusing teenage boy 1996-98 at St. Simon Stock in the Bronx. The boy worked in rectory as a secretary; said the priests plied him with alcohol and porn, offered him money for sex, had him watch them group masturbate and threatened him with harm if he told. Transferred out 1999 after family went to archdiocese and Order. Assigned as chaplain to psychiatric hospital in Middletown NY while living at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel parish. Suspended 2001 after publicity about the case. Supported by Order through at least 2002. Arrested 2002 for harassing young man he met at NYC gay bar. Arrested again in 7/05 for taking erotic photos of a 15-year-old boy and approaching another boy for the same. Convicted 3/30/06. Sentenced 6/06 to 5-15 years in prison. May also have offended while working in Peru prior to ordination.

Archdiocese settled with 3 men in 1994 who claimed abuse by Theisen in the early 1980s when they were teens. Each received $20K and were made to sign confidentiality agreements. Sent to the Servants of the Paraclete in NM for treatment. Voluntarily laicized in 1994. Died 1/25/13. Subject of settlement 10/27 as part of archdiocese's compensation plan. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. On Dodge City diocese's list 10/1/19, where he was assigned 10/88-5/89 to the Dominican Convent and Central KS Medical Center in Great Bend.

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 6/21 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a boy, age 10 or 11, in about 1976, while assigned to Church of the Incarnation in New York. Thompson is alleged to have abused the boy at the church on one occasion after choir practice, along with Msgr. Thomas P. Leonard and Mr. Dennis O'Driscoll.

Fr. Donald G. Timone

News in 12/18 that Timone was accused in 2002 and 2003 of abuse late 1960s-early 1970s of teen boys he was counseling. Suspended, then returned to ministry. One of his alleged victims died by suicide in 1/15. Subject of two IRCP settlements in 2017. Remained in ministry. Suspended in 12/18 after publicity. NY archdiocesan review board to revisit the case. Had also been working at times as a chaplain, spiritual advisor and teacher at John Paul the Great Catholic University in CA, and assisting at a Rancho Santa Fe CA parish. The NY archdiocese told the University 12/18 that Timone had never been accused and was fit to serve, even though he was then being investigated. Longtime chaplain for Courage and Encourage International, an apostolate to help homosexuals "live chaste lives." On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Review Board process pending. Lawsuit 7/19 by man claiming church covered up Timone and Msgr. John Paddack's histories of abusing and kept them in ministry. The archdiocese's list updated in 6/22 shows that the review board had deemed the allegation credible and substantiated and that a canonical process was pending.

Bishop Austin Bernard Vaughan

Accused in a lawsuit filed in 1/20 under the NY Child Victims Act of sexually abusing a boy, age 15 or 16, in the late 1960s. The boy was an Archbishop Stepinac High School student, where Vincent was assigned 1966-72. Per the lawsuit, Vincent "sat on [the boy's] lap, touched him and made 'sexual contact' in front of other students." The Crosier Review Committee determined that it did "not believe this accusation fits the definition of sexual abuse of a minor as stated by the Conference of Major Superiors of Men."

Died in 1987. On archdiocese's list 4/26/19. Claims against Whelan eligible for IRCP. In 11/19 lawsuit, accused along with Auxiliary Bishop Austin Vaughan, of sexually abusing a boy in 1979 while both men were assigned to St. Patrick's in Newburgh.

Accused in a 2/26/04 civil suit of abuse of a boy, ages 9-11 in 1959-61 at Holy Cross parish in Manhattan. Laicized. On NY archdiocese's list 4/26/19. New suit filed 8/19 alleging abuse 1972-73 of a boy in Rye, ages 11-12.
