Fr. Francis V. Boyle
Diocese: Archdiocese of New York NY
Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Pelham Manor pastor 1979-1991. Pastor of Blessed Sacrament on Staten Island 1991-2004. Named monsignor in 1995. Held prominent positions in the archdiocese. Retired in 2004. Accused via the IRCP program in 2018 of past abuse of a minor, deemed credible and substantiated by the Lay Review Board. On archdiocese’s list 4/26/19. Removed from ministry. Cardinal Dolan reportedly recommended to the Vatican’s CDF dismissal of the allegation. In 9/20 the CDF concluded that the allegation did not have “the semblance of truth.” Boyle died 3/13/21, age 91.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
