Monsignor. Teacher, guidance counselor, parish priest. Accused publicly in 3/19 by one of five men who said Paddack abused them as boys in the Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island, 1988-2002. The man said he was a Cardinal Hayes HS student in 1996 when Paddack molested him during counseling. Another accuser had come forward in 2012; the Archdiocese’s Lay Review Board deemed his claims “unsubstantiated.” Paddack denied the allegations. Remained in ministry. An eighth accuser spoke out in 6/19. Paddack resigned from his parish 7/2/19. Lawsuit 7/19 by man claiming church covered up Paddack and Rev. Donald Timone’s histories of abusing and kept them in ministry. Suit filed 8/19 claims abuse of a 16-year-old male student of St. Joseph by-the Sea HS on Staten Island 2001-02. Four new suits in 7/20 claim abuse of teen boys 1987-90, 1990-93, 1995-97, 2002-03. Two more suits in 5/21, claiming abuse 1987-89 and 1996-98. New suit 5/21.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
