Fr. Keith Fennessy
Diocese: Archdiocese of New York NY
Suspended from position at St. Columba’s in Manhattan in 6/15, where he’d served since 2011, after pornography discovered on his computer “that violated the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.” Small notice in archdiocesan newspaper after suspension. Archdiocese announced in 3/16 that its Review Board investigated and recommended Fennessy no longer be permitted to serve as a priest. In 5/20 Fennessy filed suit against Cardinal Dolan, claiming he was falsely accused. On archdiocese’s list 4/26/19. Removed from ministry. Per the list in 6/22, Fennessy had been laicized.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
