Fr. Charles E. Bermingham

Ordained: 1932
Status: Accused

Diocese: Diocese of Rockville Centre NY

Monsignor. Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list in 3/21. Abuse allegedly occurred at St. Aidan’s in Williston Park where, per the list, Bermingham was assigned in 1952 for an “unknown” period of time, and again in 1952, length of assignment “unknown.” A 1960 news article shows that he named pastor of St. Aidan’s that year, and had been there since 1952. It appears, per the Catholic Directories, that he was at the parish through his retirement in 1978. Died 12/21/03.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
