Fr. James J. Campbell

Ordained for the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1942. Per the Burlington Diocese on its list of credibly accused in 8/2019, Campbell arrived in the Burlington diocese in 7/1962, was suspended in in 1965 and returned to his order. Left the priesthood, married in 1968. (The list shows Campbell as having been ordained for the Paracletes, which is contradicted by a news report in 1942, and the Official Catholic Directory. James J. not found in the Directories as in MN. He was, however, with his order in Essex NY prior to his arrival in VT.)

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
