Fr. Alberto Chavez
Monsignor. Accused in a 10/2018 lawsuit of the sexual abuse, including rape, of an altar boy 1972-1977 in Peralta NM, while pastor of Our Lady of Guadalupe in the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Chavez allegedly would ply the boy with alcohol. Transferred to the Diocese of Las Cruces where he worked in parishes 1977-1985. Died in 1997. Included on the Diocese of Las Cruces list 11/8/2018, which noted a report received in 2002 of an incident in 1984. On the Santa Fe’s list 3/8/2019. Chavez was accused in a lawsuit in 7/2025 of sexually abusing an altar boy, ages 9-16, from 1984 until his retirement 1990. Chavez was pastor during the alleged abuse of Our Lady of Purification in Las Cruces.
