Fr. Thomas Joseph Doyle
Accused of molesting twin brothers over a 10-year period while pastor of Sacred Heart in Vernon CT, starting when the boys were 14 in about 1980. The boys allegedly told counselors in 1983. One of the counselors, Franciscan Br. DeMatteis, is also alleged to have made sexual advances toward one of the twins. In 1992, the diocese removed Doyle and the Marianists suspended him. Civil suit filed in 1995. Two more accusers later came forward. Doyle was treated in both NM and MD. Laicized in 2002. Died 3/20/2007. Included in 2/2019 on the Diocese of Norwich’s list. Included on the Marianists list of accused 6/24/2020. Added in 11/2020 to Baltimore’s list, where he worked 1967-1973. Included on the Cincinnati archdiocese’s list in 2/2022. Mentioned in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General’s Report.
