Fr. Paul Eichhoff

Ordained: 1970
Status: Sued

Died: 06/3/2022
Diocese: Diocese of Tulsa OK

Suspended in 8/2002 after a man alleged that Eichhoff sexually abused him and another boy when they were third- or fourth-graders at a parish school in the late 1970s. Eichhoff filed a slander suit against the man and his father. They countersued. Eichhoff was cleared by the diocese’s review board in late 2002 and returned to ministry. In 10/2004 a jury found that Eichhoff did not abuse the plaintiff; it also found he was not slandered by either the plaintiff or plaintiff’s father. In 7/2006 they sued the bishop, alleging a conspiracy to invade the plaintiff’s privacy and prevent him from pursuing his earlier suit. Dismissed by court, upheld by OK Court of Appeals in 1/2014. In 8/2010 another man came forward with allegations that, when he was age 9 in the late 1970s, he and two other boys were sexually abused by Eichhoff, including the man who came forward in 2002. The review board deemed his allegations unsubstantiated. In 11/2020 Eichhoff was pastor emeritus in residence at Christ the King parish. He died 6/3/2022.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
