Fr. Matthew Fitzgerald
Accused of abuse of a teenage boy in the Rockville Centre diocese in the mid-1980s. Transferred to the Palm Beach, FL diocese in 1989. At least four separate allegations in parishes in Florida. Privileges were removed by Palm Beach in 2002. Named in a 2003 civil suit in New York. Also sued in Florida. Identified as Priest B in the Suffolk Co Grand Jury Report. Included in 3/21 on the Rockville Centre diocese’s list of accused. It notes alleged abuse at St. Pius X in Plainview NY, where he was assigned 10/74-5/78, among other places.
