Fr. Thomas A. Zotter

Ordained: 1976
Status: Accused

Died: 9/30/2018
Diocese: Archdiocese of Santa Fe NM

Ordained in Pittsburgh PA in 1976 for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. Parish priest. Pastor of St. Bernadette in Albuquerque 1992-2010. Died in 2018. Per his obituary, Zotter retired early due to ill health and moved to Las Vegas NV, where he worked as a visiting priest. Per a 5/2019 proof of claim in the Santa Fe archdiocese’s bankruptcy, Zotter sexually abused a boy, ages 16-17, many times from 1981-1982. The claimant also alleged abuse by Fr. Ronald Bruckner and Fr. Robert Malloy, beginning in 1982. The abuse allegedly occurred during camping trips, on Kirtland Airforce Base, at Assumption Parish (where Bruckner and Malloy were assigned), and other places. Zotter was introduced to the boy by Bruckner, through Assumption Parish’s youth groups.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
