Fr. Martin Gates
“Marty.” Initially took the name “Marius.” Named publicly as accused by the Santa Barbara Franciscans on its list 5/31/2019. It notes allegations of the sexual abuse of minors 1970-1979, reported in 1993 and 1995. Gates was assigned in 1970 to a Phoenix parish, then worked in the Guaymas, Mexico in the Diocese of Ciudad Obregon 1971-1999. He died in 2000. On the Phoenix diocese’s list, with no known allegations there. On the Stockton diocese’s list 11/12/2020, where he worked 1964-1965.
