Fr. Frank M. Genevive
Ordained for the Franciscans in 1983. Trained and worked in Boston 1979-1980 and 1989-1990. Teacher, counselor, chaplain, vocations director, parish priest. Name sometimes misspelled Genevieve. Removed from active ministry in 2002 after several allegations. A 2004 lawsuit claimed Genevive sexually abused a NY boy, including during overnight trips to Massachusetts, beginning when the boy was age 13 in 1978. Genevive was assigned to St. Anthony’s in Troy NY during the time in question. The suit was dismissed in 6/2006 due to issues of jurisdiction. Genevive was arraigned in Boston in 7/2006 on charges of felony child rape of two Albany boys, one 1978-1982, the other 1987-1989. Genevive pleaded guilty in 7/2008. He was sentenced to 8-10 years in prison (suspended for 5 years). Both victims filed suit in 4/2009. Other alleged victims are known. Genevive died 11/27/2014 in Boston. He was named in a new suit in 2/2019. Another lawsuit was filed in 7/2020. Included on the Fall River diocese’s list of credibly accused in 1/2021.
