Named publicly as accused by the diocese on its list 2/2019. A 3/2019 lawsuit claimed sex abuse of a 16-year-old boy in 1962 at a Vineland parish. The boy said he immediately told another priest in the rectory, who drove him – in the middle of the night – to Bishop Damiano’s residence in Camden. The bishop reportedly told the boy in response to his disclosure, “Never speak of this again.” Gerbino was the subject of a 2017 settlement with the daughter of a young man who was allegedly abused in the 1960s by Gerbino. The man killed himself in front of his daughter, then age 7, in 1970. Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Vineland from 1961 until his resignation in 11/1980 for “health reasons.”  Reportedly removed from ministry in 1985 for “mental health reasons.” Died in 2007.
