Leave of absence from the Bridgeport diocese 1978 until his death in 1988. Accused of molesting at least two youths over several years. Civil suit filed 1995. Five plaintiffs were in the suit by 1999. Settled 3/01. Other claims settled by diocese as part of massive $20M settlement with 40 people in 10/03. One man said Gorecki fondled him on several occasions. He told his mom; she complained to nun at school. Shortly thereafter, Gorecki was “gone.” He spent time outside diocese before reassigned to other parishes. Another settlement 3/11. On Norwich diocese’s list 2/22/19. (Name spelled “Gorecky”.) Worked in the diocese 1964-66. Per 2019 report commissioned by the diocese, there were 20 victims, all boys ages 7-17, abused 1960-78.
