Fr. August Griffin
Accused in civil suit filed summer, 2007 of sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy in the 1970s at St. Bernard’s in Sunrise, FL. Accused in a suit filed in 8/19 of abusing a 12-year-old altar server at St. Mary’s in East Islip in 1968. Included on the St. Augustine diocese’s list 11/6/20 as Augustus “Gus” Griffin, CSSp, deceased, for abuse in 1969. (There is a Gus Griffin, CSSp from Ireland, ordained in 1955, convicted in 1998 of abuse of boys in Ireland in 1976 and 1981-83.) On the Rockville Centre diocese’s list in 3/21 as Augustin Griffin OSF, for abuse alleged at St Mary’s in East Islip and St Bernard in Levittown; no time-frame shown.
