Fr. Robert J. Kirsch
From NY. Trained as Jesuit. Ordained for Gallup. Transferred to Santa Fe. Archdiocese became aware of behavior and sent him to counseling several times; each time would transfer him to new parish. Kirsch allegedly sexually abused a girl at St. Thomas Apostle in Abiquiu NM 1973-1977, beginning when she was age 15, leading to pregnancy and an abortion. She filed a civil suit in 1991. He admitted sex but said she was 19 by then. Suit dismissed in 1993 due to the statute of limitations. Died 11/3/2005. Included on the Gallup diocese’s list of credibly accused. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese list 9/12/2017. On the Las Cruces diocese’s list 6/24/2019, where he worked 1965-1967.
