Fr. Marvin J. Klaers

Klaers worked early in his priesthood in New Ulm and Shakopee. He was assigned in 1965 to Hampton, then to St. Paul. In 1975 he transferred to Miesville and New Trier. He retired in 2002, continuing to help out in parishes until 6/2014. Klaers’ name was included on the Archdiocese’s 2/2015 list of accused, due to alleged abuse of an adolescent boy in the late 1970s. A lawsuit was filed 5/12/2016. Klaers denied the allegations. He died 3/12/2022.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
