In residence  at St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Northfield when accused in 8/2011 of sexually abusing a 15-year-old girl in the mid-1970s while principal of St. Benedict High School in Chicago. The girl was a student at the school and was sent to him for counseling. The Archdiocese said Klein was retired as of 7/2010. Review Board determined in 12/2011 that Klein’s conduct was not sexual abuse but was inappropriate. Restrictions placed – prohibited from public ministry and being alone with or functions involving minors. Restrictions eventually loosened; re-established by new Archbishop Cupich in 2015. Died 11/18/2020. Included in the 5/23/2023 IL Attorney General’s Report.
