Fr. Laurier A. Labreche
Accused in a lawsuit filed in 5/2017, along with Rev. Edward Donelan, of sexually abusing an altar boy, ages 11-13, in the late 1980s at Church of the Ascension in Albuquerque. Labreche was living in Albuquerque in 5/2017. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese’s list of accused 9/12/2017. On the Las Cruces diocese’s list 11/8/2018, where he worked 1962-1968 at St. Eleanor’s in Ruidoso. Per a 5/2019 proof of claim in the Santa Fe archdiocese’s bankruptcy, Labreche sexually abused an altar boy 1965-1967. The alleged victim said that he was about age 11 when Labreche began grooming him and that he was abused until about age 15. Some of the abuse allegedly took place in the confessional. The claimant said there were many other victims. In another 5/2019 proof of claim, a man alleges that Labreche sexually assaulted him at age 19 in Fall 1967, a few months after his mother died, during an overnight at an Albuquerque motel. Labreche died 10/1/2019.
