Admitted in 1986 to sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy. Two felony charges were reduced to misdemeanors in a plea bargain after Bishop O’Brien wrote to the judge requesting leniency because Lessard was remorseful. Sentence was three years probation and a $100 fine. Continued to work as priest, including time as a hospital chaplain in the Rockford IL diocese. Removed from ministry by hospital and Rockford diocese in 2/01. Removed from ministry by Phoenix diocese 2002. Phoenix diocese settled the civil case in 2006 for $50K. Living in Thailand per 11/06 article. On Rockford diocese’s list 11/14/18.
