Fr. Jose D. Lopez Durango
From Colombia. Accused in 6/2013 of molesting a 14- year-old girl in 1/2013 at St. Mary’s rectory in Passaic. Lopez Durango denied the allegations. Removed without privileges. Arrested in 7/2013, charged with luring a child, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact. Released on bail. Found guilty in 6/2016. Sentenced to 6 years in prison and lifetime parole. Lopez’ attorney requested new trial. In 10/2018 the NJ Supreme Court affirmed the lower court’s decision. Included 2/13/2019 on the Paterson diocese’s list of credibly accused.
