First named publicly as accused in 8/14/2018 PA Grand Jury Report. Included in 2019 on the diocese’s list of credibly accused. Personnel file shows allegations of sexual abuse of at least four people: allegations in 1992 of abuse of two teen brothers in the 1970s; a 1996 memo that he was confronted with several allegations; a 1999 lawsuit by an inmate of State Correctional Institution at Pittsburgh with claim McKenna sexually assaulted him there; a 5/2002 report from a woman who said McKenna sexually abused her son in 1975. Withdrew from active ministry in 2004. Treated at St. Luke Institute, diagnosed with ephebophilia. Suit filed in 12/2019 claiming abuse of altar boy, age 11 or 12, 1973-1975. Sued for abuse of a boy, ages 13-15, in 1979-1981; settled in 5/2020 in the low five figures. McKenna died 4/4/2021.
