Fr. James J. Mohan

From Ireland. Parish priest, U.S. Air Force chaplain. On leave “for reasons of health,” per a 1973 news article. Accused of the sexual molestation of at least two teenage boys. Removed suddenly from his last assignment at Visitation Parish in Vienna, MO. An arrest warrant may have been issued for him. Reportedly the Diocese pulled Mohan from the parish in the middle of the night and put him on a plane to England. The Official Catholic Directory shows him as on duty outside the diocese for much of the 1980s. Died 3/17/1990. Included on the Diocese’s list of accused 11/8/2018.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
