Fr. Alvin J. Pilie

Order: SJ
Ordained: 1945
Status: Sued

Died: 11/21/1986
Diocese: Archdiocese of Santa Fe NM

Parish priest, educator. Assigned in FL, LA, NM. Pilie died in 1986. Named in a lawsuit 11/2019 as having sexually abused, along with Rev. Gerald A. Armstrong, a girl ages 6-7 in 1968-1969, in Albuquerque. The girl attended St. Mary School near Immaculate Conception parish, where the two priests were assigned. In a 6/2019 proof of claim form in the Santa Fe archdiocese’s bankruptcy, the alleged victim said she was summoned from class and led to a rectory or parish basement, where she was sexually abused, including rape. Some of the abuse allegedly took place in a mountain cabin. Further, she said the priests sometimes forced her to drink alcohol before the abuse. The Jesuits were first informed of the claims in 2009, which they deemed not credible.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
