Fr. Harold F. Quigg

Ordained: 1960
Status: Settled

Died: 11/11/2015
Diocese: Archdiocese of Seattle WA

Allegation in the late 1990s. Settled. Kept in ministry. The Review Board Report of 6/2004 identified Quigg as one of four priests for whom there was insufficient evident to support an allegation of abuse of a minor. The Board admitted that there was sufficient evidence to prove he did sexually abuse a 17-year-old; church age of consent at the time was 16. The Board stated Quigg’s actions were so egregious that he was unsuitable for the priesthood. Supposedly removed from ministry, but the Archdiocese admitted that he continued to perform baptisms and other services and priestly duties at local parishes. Laicization reported in a 7/5/2015 church bulletin. Died in 11/2015. Name included on Archdiocese’s 1/15/2016 list of clergy and religious with established, admitted or credible accusations against them of sexual abuse of a minor. Named in suit filed 5/17/2016.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
