Fr. Edward D. Richard
Placed on leave in 4/2002 after the Diocese learned that police were investigating Richard due to allegations of child sexual abuse. Two men filed suit in 6/2002 alleging Richard abused them while he was assigned to Our Lady of Mercy in Merrimack 1973-1982. Richard retired in late 5/2003. The criminal investigation was still ongoing at the time. Claims were likely part of a 5/2003 settlement involving 61 plaintiffs. Assigned to a life of prayer and penance and deceased, per the Diocese’s list 7/31/2019. Accused in a lawsuit that settled in 4/2020 in the low five figures of fondling a boy, age 17, in 1987, in the St. John Neumann Parish rectory in Merrimack.
