Fr. John J. Sardina
Diocese: Diocese of Buffalo NY
Retired, living in a residence for priests in Depew. Suspended in 9/18 after the diocese received an allegation they he sexually abused a 12-year-old girl in the late 1960s, while he was assigned to Coronation of the BVM in Buffalo. Sardina denied the allegation. He did admit to having been sent to counseling over 10 years previously due to “consensual” sex he had with women. Allowed to return to active ministry in 3/19 after the Diocesan Review Board deemed the allegation unsubstantiated.
Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
