Died in 1957, age 78. Civil suit filed by three men 8/26/2010 claimed abuse at Briscoe Memorial School, including an allegation that Toner abused a boy there in 1944. The youth allegedly fled the school and reported the abuse to the Archdiocese in the same year, but no action. Toner was at St. Benedict’s Mission (later called Our Lady Queen of Heaven) in Tacoma 1939-1946. His ordination date is unclear; he arrived in WA state in 1925 from Vancouver. Name included on the archdiocese’s 1/15/2016 list of clergy and religious with established, admitted or credible allegations against them of sexual abuse of a minor.
