Fr. William G. Ward
Named publicly as credibly accused by the Buffalo diocese on its list 3/20/2018. Ward died in 2008. Accused in a lawsuit in 8/2019. Included on the Raleigh diocese’s list 10/22/2019; the 1951 Catholic Directory lists him as a Buffalo priest assigned to St. Leo’s in Winston-Salem. The Raleigh list notes alleged abuse in 1955 outside the diocese, reported in 2019. Included on the Charlotte diocese’s list 12/29/2019, which erroneously notes that Ward was ordained for the Raleigh diocese. Ward was ordained for Buffalo and spent 1950-1951 in the Diocese of Raleigh via the Buffalo diocese’s Missionary Apostolate. He allegedly abused in NY 1955-1956 and 1966-1971. A lawsuit in 10/2019 claims abuse in the late 1960s-early 1970s of an altar boy in NY, age 12 or 13. A suit in 6/2021 claims abuse 1963-1967 of a NY minor, ages 13-17.
