Fr. David P. Welch
Monsignor. A man filed a civil suit in 2/04 alleging that he was sexually abused by Welch (spelled Walsh) for three years in the early 1950s, when Welch was in charge of St. Michael’s High School. Welch, who died in 1986, was editor of the Diocese’s newspaper and executor of Bishop Weldon’s estate. Conflict in 2003-2004 that Welch, as executor, may have destroyed Diocesan personnel files relating to abuse accusations within the Diocese. One claim settled in 8/04 and two in 2008.
