Accused in 1999 of sexually abusing a nun, age 27, in the Winnipeg archdiocese 1978-79. Wilfort was then superior of the order’s Western Canada Province. Abuse allegedly included digital penetration and was represented as therapeutic. Complainant had been recruited from the Manchester NH diocese during a retreat by Wilfort. The Vatican investigated the charges in 2000. Complainant filed suit in 2002, but when she died in 2004, the suit was dismissed. Other victims are alleged, ages unspecified.
