David Lloyd Walther was arrested in 2022 after law enforcement found hard drives containing more than 100,000 images and 5,000 videos of child pornography.

A federal lawsuit has been filed against a Round Rock church whose former pastor was sentenced for possession of child pornography.

Faith Baptist Church pastor David Lloyd Walther was arrested in 2022 after law enforcement found two large computer hard drives containing more than 100,000 images and more than 5,000 videos of child pornography. Law enforcement officials found images of child sexual abuse connected to the church’s IP address and the BitTorrent network.

The lawsuit was filed against Walther earlier this year by 14 adults who say they were sexually abused as children and that their abuse was depicted in images of child pornography he possessed.

The plaintiffs have now added Faith Baptist Church to that lawsuit, alleging Walther used on-site internet connection and an IP address tied to the church, located on Gattis School Road. The suit claims Walther downloaded child pornography photos and videos at the place of worship, and that the church knew or should have known. It also says the church did not have internet filtering.

“At all relevant times, Defendant Church took no steps to prevent Defendant Walther from using the tasks, premises, and instrumentalities of his position as their pastor, employee, agent, servant, and/or volunteer to download and possess the CSAM of Plaintiffs on the premises of Defendant Church,” the lawsuit states.

Walther told law enforcement he was addicted to pornography and watched it through the Bit Torrent network. He pleaded guilty on June 27, 2023, and was sentenced several months later.

According to the suit, in July 2023, the women listed in the lawsuit were informed that they were seen in Walther’s collection of child pornography images. They are asking for $150,000 in liquidated damages, along with litigation costs and several other requests.

Following the initial discovery, Walther was sentenced to 70 months in prison with 10 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $61,000 in restitution.
