Fr. David L. Bonin
Died at age 53 in 3/02. In 11/08 a 21-year-old man filed suit against the bishop and diocese, alleging that Bonin sexually abused him weekly 1998-2001, when the man was ages 9-12. The man first made his allegations known in 2007. A second person also alleged abuse. In 4/09 the NY Supreme Court denied the diocese’s motion to dismiss. Diocese included Bonin’s name on 6/7/12 list; complaint noted to have been received after his death.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
