Removed from St. Valentine in Bloomfield in 11/04 due to an allegation that he abused a boy for three years, starting when the boy was age 15 and Chabak was assigned to St. Mary of the Assumption in Elizabeth. Named Monsignor in 1998. Retired per 2009-12 Directories. Had been living in a rectory after Hurricane Sandy with permission from Archdiocese until public pressure forced removal in 2/13. On Archdiocese’s list 2/13/19. Multiple allegations noted. Permanently removed from ministry. Accused in a 12/19 suit of abusing a boy, age 13 or 14, at Christ the King in Hillside 1983-84.
