Fr. Jaime Marin-Cardona
From Colombia. In 12/2019 the Diocese announced credible allegations against Marin-Cardona involving a minor. In 9/2019 the child’s parents expressed concern to the Diocese. Marin-Cardona was was placed on leave and sent to an “adult facility.” Charged in 1/2020 with child sexual abuse. The abuse occurred in 2014 and 2016 while Marin-Cardona was assigned to Our Lady of Guadalupe in Danbury, involving two boys. Marin-Cordona admitted to touching one of the boys on his groin multiple times over four years; his victim said the abuse started when he was age 12. The priest also admitted to touching the buttocks of the other boy. Pleaded not guilty in 2/2020. Allegations substantiated by the DCF. On the Diocese’s list 1/22/2020. Pleaded guilty to revised charges. Sentenced in 10/2022 to ten years in jail, suspended after one year, and five years’ probation.
