From La Barca, Jalisco, Mexico, Archdiocese of Guadalajara. Attended seminary in Mexico, then in Oregon, where he was ordained for the Archdiocese of Portland. Arrested 8/13/2012 after a 12-year-old boy told police Perez touched him inappropriately and took pictures of him the night before. Charged with first degree sex abuse, using child in display of sexually explicit conduct and furnishing alcohol to a minor. Removed without privileges from St. Luke’s in Woodburn after arrest. (Perez’ best friend in seminary was Uriel Ojeda, convicted in 7/2013 of molesting a girl.) Perez pleaded guilty 4/1/2013. Sentenced to 75 months in prison. Civil suit filed in 4/2014. Archdiocese settled in 12/2015.
