Fr. Ronald D. Provost
In the early 1980s Provost was sent to the House of Affirmation after a pastor gave auxiliary bishop Harrington photos that Provost took of boys in their underwear. Made pastor in 1988. Removed in 1/1992; sent to St. Luke’s Institute. Convicted in 1/9393 of taking nude photos of a 10-year-old. Received a 10-year suspended sentence. In 1/1992 Provost gave police 100+ nude and semi-nude photos of boys he had taken starting in 1977. The jury in a 1996 civil trial found the diocese and bishop not responsible and determined that the plaintiff did not suffer physical harm from the pictures. A new suit filed in 10/2010 claimed abuse 1979-1982. Bishop McManus announced on 11/18/2021 that Provost had been laicized.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
