Fr. Thomas J. Rooney
One of 21 priests placed on administrative leave by the Philadelphia Archdiocese 3/7/2011 pending investigation for credible allegations involving inappropriate behavior with minors. Rooney’s last assignment was as chaplain at the Immaculate Mary Home, a Catholic nursing facility for the elderly, in Northeast Philadelphia. The Archdiocese announced 5/4/2012 that allegations that he violated standards of ministry were substantiated and he was unsuitable for ministry. Rooney died 12/31/2024.
