Fr. Lawrence F. Varney
The Diocese announced in 10/2008 that Varney, who retired in 2002, had been placed on leave and barred from public ministry after the Review Board found credible recent allegations that he had engaged in sexual misconduct with a minor in the late 1970s. Varney was an instructor at Toledo Central Catholic High School at the time of the alleged abuse. He was permanently removed from public ministry in 2009. Matter referred to Rome. Included on the Diocese’s list in 2010.
