Fr. Leonard F. Wilkuski

Wilkuski resigned from his parish and was placed on leave in 5/2002 after acknowledging an allegation of sexual misconduct which occurred “much earlier” in his ministry. He was laicized 2/17/2006. Included in 2019 on the Diocese’s list of accused. Died 1/25/2022. Included in the MI Attorney General’s 6/25/2026 Diocese of Saginaw Report, which reveals that in 1/1987 four people met with the Diocese to discuss their concerns regarding Wilkuski’s involvement with boys, including taking them to the parish rectory during the school day, that boys said Wilkuski “hit on them,” and that Wilkuski touched the testicles of a boy he was visiting in a hospital. Wilkuski also allegedly offered the boys alcohol. Those at the meeting said they weren’t sure the allegations were true. In 1990 the Diocese received an allegation that in 1986 Wilkulski told a 30-year-old man he was counseling that he needed to inspect his genitals. Wilkulski acknowledged that incident. Notes in Wilkuski’s personnel file dated 7/1990 contain allegations that 6 years prior, Wilkuski asked a 9th-grade boy if he was circumcised, and insisted on showing the boy his circumcision. His accuser said he knew that Wilkuski exposed himself to another boy and put his hand on a hospitalized boy’s genitals. Bishop Untener in 1990 placed restrictions on Wilkuski and Wilkuski was sent for evaluation. The boy’s mother had spoken with Untener in 1985 about the incidents. In 4/2002 there was another allegation, that Wilkuski sexually abused an altar boy sometime 1966-1968, when the boy was between ages 10-12. at St. Mark’s in Augres. The alleged victim said his older brother was also abused by Wilkuski. Utener suspended Wilkuski’s faculties. Another allegation emerged in 2004, that Wilkuski sexually abused a boy 1970-1973, while pastor of St. Andrew’s in Saginaw.
