Fr. Leo J. Courcy
Priest of the Burlington VT diocese. In a civil suit filed in 1994 Courcy and Rev. Joseph Anthony Gallegos were accused of sexually abusing an altar boy in NM, after Courcy’s first trip to the Servants of the Paraclete treatment facility in Jemez Springs. He was sent to the Paracletes in 1967 and 1969. His faculties were removed in 2/1993 when assigned in NYC. Laicized in 6/2009. Included on the Santa Fe archdiocese list 9/12/2017. Accused in a 11/2017 lawsuit, which settled in 2018, against the Paracletes of raping a 16-year-old boy in the rectory of St. Anthony’s in Questa during an overnight in in 1969, after plying the boy with alcohol. Accused in a 5/2019 lawsuit against the Paracletes of sexually abusing two boys during an overnight the rectory of St. Anthony’s in 1969. One of the accusers claimed he was raped. Per the suit, Courcy was sent by the Paracletes to St. Anthony’s as a supply priest four days after his arrival for treatment. Included on the Burlington diocese’s list 8/22/2019. A lawsuit filed in 5/2021 claims abuse of a boy in VT in 1978, starting when the boy was age 5 or 6.
