Fr. Fabian Maryanski

Retired in 2014. Reportedly in 5/2018, Maryanski was investigated by the Diocese and placed on leave in 1995 for the alleged sexual abuse of a teenage girl in the 1980s. ‘Absent on Leave’ for 5 years yet resided and said mass at St. Mary’s in Medina. Assigned in 2000 to a Cheektowaga parish, then named pastor of St. Andrew’s in Sloan. Suspended the day after a news report. The bishop said he would reopen the investigation. The abuse allegedly occurred when Maryanski was pastor of St. Patrick’s in Barker, and the girl was ages 15-22. She said he gave her gifts, promised to marry her, and threw her to the ground when she said she was going to tell another priest. He acknowledged sex with her but denied it was when she was a minor. A settlement was offered in 12/2018. Per news in 6/2018, Maryanski was recently investigated by the District Attorney after a complaint from a schoolgirl in 1/2018. His behavior was deemed “creepy,” not criminal. In 12/2018 the Diocese said the allegations were substantiated. Added to the Diocese’s list 1/7/2019. Removed from the diocesan payroll 5/1/2020 as part of a bankruptcy agreement. Per the Diocese’s list in 9/2025, Maryanski was “awaiting extra judicial process.”

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
