Fr. Stephen J. Nichols

The Diocese received an allegation against Nichols in 2005, which it investigated internally over four months before reporting it to police. The Attorney General’s office investigated. On 4/3/2006 Nichols was placed on leave. In 9/2006 he was charged with sexually molesting a teenage boy. Nichols claimed that the victim was the aggressor in the incident. He pleaded guilty 5/1/2007 and was sentenced to 30 days in jail and two years probation. He resigned as pastor 6/7/2007 and was laicized 1/23/2015. Included on the Diocese’s 8/22/2019 list of credibly accused.
