Fr. Jerome Toohey

“Jeff.” Accused in 12/1993 of sexually abusing a male Calvert Hall High school student he was counseling, from 1985-1989. Denied the allegations, refused to go to treatment. On leave without faculties from 1993. Suit filed in 1994, dismissed in 1996. Included in 9/2002 on the Archdiocese’s list of accused. Allegation in 2004 of the sexual abuse of another Calvert Hall student, from 1987-1990. Criminally charged in 5/2005. Pleaded guilty. Sentenced to five years in prison, all but 18 months suspended, and 18 months of supervised probation. Released after 10 months. Laicization announced in 5/2008. On sex offender registry. Settlement for $30K in 2014 with another victim. Allegation in 2015 of abuse 1980-1987. Two more settlements, for $85K and $100K. Included in the 4/5/2023 MD Attorney General’s Report.
