Fr. John H. Wisner, Jr.

Suspended in 5/2012 after a man reported that Wisner touched him inappropriately at age 15 in 1982. Wisner denied sexual misconduct but confirmed the time, location and circumstances surrounding the allegation. Wisner, a psychiatrist, had been parochial vicar at St. Agnes Parish in Roeland Park, KS since 1985. He was also a full-time associate professor. Three claims were sent to the Vatican in 11/2012. A lawsuit filed in 12/2015 claimed that Wisner sexually abused a boy, ages 15-17, in the mid-1980s. The claimant said that Wisner, who was also his doctor, held parties at a lake house, gave minors liquor, and sexually abused them. He said the priest/doctor took him on trips to CA, HI and the Cayman Islands. Laicized, as affirmed by the Vatican 3/12/2018. In 10/2018 Wisner still held MD licenses in KS and MO. As of 3/2019 his medical licenses in MO and KS were no longer active.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
