Fr. Michael Jerome Keating
Ordained at age 46. A woman filed suit 10/14/13 alleging he sexually abused her in the late 1990s for 2-3 years, beginning when she was 13 and he was in seminary and would visit her family for meals. She told her family in 2006 and went to the archdiocese. After investigating, the archdiocese found insufficient evidence but placed him under certain restrictions. Took leave 10/13/13 from the University of St. Thomas. Police reports indicate possible abuse of a 14-year-old girl in Italy. Denied all allegations. Not on list released by archdiocese 12/5/13. Keating resigned 9/17/14 from his position at St. Thomas.

Our Database of Publicly Accused does not state or imply that individuals facing allegations are guilty of a crime or liable for civil claims. The reports contained in the database are merely allegations. The U.S. legal system presumes that a person accused of or charged with a crime is innocent until proven guilty. Similarly, individuals who may be defendants in civil actions are presumed not to be liable for such claims unless a plaintiff proves otherwise. Admissions of guilt or liability are not typically a part of civil or private settlements. For more information, see our posting policy.
