Fr. Timothy J. Brennan

Pleaded guilty in 1987 to aggravated sexual contact in 1983 with 15-year-old boy at Delbarton School. Received a one-year suspended sentence and sent to therapy. Settled. Allowed to continue working in NY parishes for over 10 years. Was assigned in Rochester NY in 2002 when placed on leave. Another complaint was filed in 2002. Sent to a rehab center in MO for life. His accuser from Delbarton filed suit in 6/2012. Settled 6/05/14. Accused in a 7/2017 lawsuit of sexually abusing an altar boy and student at St. Elizabeth of Hungary School when the boy was ages 11-14 from 1968-1971. Per the suit, Brennan sent the boy on missions to have sex with other students and report back; he plied the boy with pornography and masturbated in the boy’s presence. Settlement in 6/2018 with 5 men alleging abuse at Delbarton School. There were also settlements in 12/2018 and 2/2919. Brennan admitted to the abuse of about 50 boys. Active suits in 2/2019 from 3 men and 1 woman, claiming abuse by Brennan at St. Elizabeth’s. He died 12/4/2019, age 79. Named in a 7/2020 lawsuit filed under the NJ Child Sexual Abuse Act. Four more suits in 10/2020. More in 12/2020. By 11/2021 Brennan was the subject of 21 lawsuits under the new Act.
